‘No Face’ by Karin Dreijer Andersson

A new track by Karin Dreijer Andersson is now available to buy on the WE ARE THE WORKS IN PROGRESS compilation. No Face is the title, the track was initially written for the Ingmar Bergman play ‘The Wolf Hour’, played at The Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm in March 2011.

WE ARE THE WORKS IN PROGRESS is a 14-song benefit album to support Japan and it’s ongoing efforts to heal post-tsunami. Compiled and organized by Blonde Redhead, the album will be available digitally on January 10th. It will be the debut release on the Asa Wa Kuru label, which was started by the band. It is Japanese for “Morning Will Come”. Proceeds benefit JAPAN SOCIETY EARTHQUAKE RELIEF FUND & ARCHITECTURE FOR HUMANITY.

Lately we have read a lot about the ongoing discrimination of Romani people in Europe which is totally unacceptable. The forced evictions must stop and adequate alternative housing must be arranged. Now!

I juni kommer The Knifes Karin Dreijer Andersson och Olof Dreijer att hålla i en workshop i två dagar på Popkollos läger i Hultsfred. Lägret heter Popkollo Elektro och är för tjejer mellan 12 till 18 år. Popkollo startades 2003 och är idag en förening med 1600 medlemmar. 2010 arrangerades Popkollo på sex orter runtom i landet och hade 260 deltagare.

Karin och Olof är jätteglada över att få vara med: Vi tycker det är roligt att få vara med på Popkollo och dela med oss av våra kunskaper och hoppas på fler tjejer bakom mixerborden, i dj-båsen, vid synthrattarna och framför datorn komponerandes!.

In early 2010 Olof Dreijer and Matthew Sims were commissioned by Everard Findlay of SFOTE, from Trinidad/New York to make a piece for Steel Drums that would be performed in New York and Trinidad as a part of a fundraising event for a school bus system in Trinidad. During the process of researching the history of the Steel drum and Trinidad/Tobago, Olof and Matt were asked by curator Adnan Yildiz to make a piece for an exhibition on criticality at the Nordic Embassy in Berlin. Adnan wanted to capture the open process of studying the instrument. An alarming piece was commisioned to be played in the embassy building 3 times a day.

The title is Guadelope – Saint Bartèlemy – Saint Martin – St.Croix – St. Jan – St. Thomas – Tobago, which are the names of the 6 former Nordic colonies in the Caribbean.
